We have chosen to honor the social and cultural history of the island, whose diversity is reflected in the different dishes we offer. The island has been occupied by various native peoples, Arawak Indians and Caribs, but has also had African, Chinese and East Indian populations. As if that were not enough, it has also been inhabited by Spanish, British, French and Danish settlers. All this can be observed, felt and experienced in the typical dishes of the area, which, through their flavors, give an account of the cultural and ethnic melting pot that characterizes St. John.
Therefore, on this occasion we would like to tell you about 5 of our dishes that have become a real ‘must-try’ and that will allow you to transport you to different historical moments of the island.
Undoubtedly, when you think of the Caribbean, one of the dishes you can't help but consider is lobster. At Morgan's Mango we specialize in a dish we call Caribbean Lobster, which is always fresh and always locally sourced. The lobster is transported alive to the restaurant, so the total freshness of the ingredient is guaranteed. Morgan's Mango lobster is served with sweet plantains, seasoned rice and Morgan's black beans. A plate to savor new palate adventures.
The next dish we want to refer to that attracts thousands of visitors every week is the Coconut Grouper. As the name suggests, these fried shrimp are coated in coconut and served with spicy plantain sauce. They are then served with seasoned rice, Morgan's black beans and sweet corn. A dish to transport you to flavor paradise.
Thirdly, we can't fail to mention our famous paella. In this case, it's all about giving a Caribbean touch to a traditional dish. It includes shrimp, mahi, mussels and fresh squid sautéed with onions, peppers, peas and rice. It is then simmered in a saffron cream sauce. A culinary journey for the refined palate.
To describe this dish we can define it as 14 ounces of Rib Eye steak marinated in Pickapeppa sauce and crushed peppercorns. One point to note is that it is grilled to order, so that it is cooked exactly as the person prefers it. It is then served with our Caribbean blend of mashed potato/yucca and fresh seasonal vegetables. A plate to indulge in gastronomic pleasures.
We end our selection of Morgan's Mango's best dishes that you must try by referring to one of our best desserts: the Key Lime Pie. It is a freshly made pie topped with a white chocolate mousse. A dessert to sweeten your day and lift your spirits.
